🚨Biden’s Out🚨
President Biden abandoned his bid for re-election and threw the 2024 presidential contest into chaos on Sunday, caving to relentless pressure from his closest allies to drop out of the race amid deep concerns that he is too old and frail to defeat former President Donald J. Trump. After calling Vice President Kamala Harris an “extraordinary partner,” he endorsed her to take his place atop the ticket.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president,” he wrote on social media. “And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus entirely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”
💻Computer Outage Grounds Flights, Could Happen Again
Airlines, health care, banks and businesses beginning slowly to recover from a global tech outage that caused flights to be grounded and businesses to grind to a halt. This time a faulty cybersecurity update was to blame, but Microsoft’s clunky Windows operating system is prone to such problems, and there are fears it will happen again. Microsoft’s grip over global systems is opening up federal agencies and businesses to unnecessary risk.

🔻Gunman Flew Drone Over Trump Rally
The gunman who tried to kill Donald Trump was able to fly a drone and get aerial footage of the western Pennsylvania fairgrounds shortly before the former president was set to speak there, law-enforcement officials briefed on the matter said, further underscoring the stunning security lapses ahead of Trump’s near assassination.
It keeps getting worse and worse we now learn the U.S. obtained intelligence in recent weeks about an Iranian plot to assassinate Donald Trump, and the information led the Secret Service to increase security around the former president BEFORE THE SHOOTING AT THE RALLY. It clearly didn’t work!
Trump accepted the GOP nomination LAST NIGHT, grabbed the audience with a promise to discuss what happened Saturday, but qualified it by saying he would only do it once, “because it’s actually too painful to tell.”
Perhaps the most powerful moment came when Trump said, “I’m not supposed to be here tonight.” The crowd began chanting, “Yes you are!” Trump ultimately responded, “Thank you, but I’m not.”
“Despite such a heinous attack, we unite this evening more determined than ever,” Trump wrapped up that section. “I am more determined than ever. So are you. So is everybody. … Our resolve is unbroken, and our purpose is unchanged.”
Also unchanged: Virtually the rest of his speech, undifferentiated from a normal Trump stump speech.A man fired a weapon at Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania hitting the former president in the ear. Trump was immediately surrounded by secret service and rushed to a medical facility. As he was escorted to his motorcade, Trump, whose face and right ear were bloodied, pumped his fist in a defiant gesture to the crowd.
The Secret Service is in the hot seat. At the heart of the investigations: How was a 20-year-old lone shooter able to take up an exposed firing position on an open rooftop not much more than a football field away from the former president?
The Secret Service said in a statement that the suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an rooftop position outside the rally and is investigating the incident as an assassination attempt .
An Eyewitness tells the BBC that he informed police and Secret Service prior to the shooting about a suspicious man on a roof with a rifle. He apparently was ignored.

🏛️WikiLeks Founder Freed
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange released from a British prison and on his way to a remote Pacific island where he will plead guilty to a conspiracy charge as part of a plea deal with the U.S. Justice Department, according to court documents.
The agreement will free Assange and end the yearslong legal battle over the publication of a trove of classified documents.
Assange was charged by criminal information — which typically signifies a plea deal — with conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information, the court documents said.
A letter from Justice Department official Matthew McKenzie said Assange would appear in court in the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S.-controlled territory north of Guam, at 9 a.m. local time Wednesday (7 p.m. ET Tuesday) to plead guilty.

Research shows that gun-related suicides—which encompass the majority of all firearm-related deaths—has increased by 45% for people aged 15-24 and 68% for children aged 10-14 from 2012 to 2022, according to the advisory.
Adults have also been impacted by the ongoing crisis. More than half of U.S. adults or their family members have experienced a firearm-related incident throughout their lives, according to an April 2023 survey.

💻Surgeon General Calls For Teen Warning On Social Media
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy is calling on Congress to require a tobacco-style warning advising parents that using social platforms might damage adolescents’ mental health.
In an op-ed in The New York Times, Murthy said the mental health crisis among young people is an urgent problem, with social media “an important contributor.”
He said his vision of the warning includes language that would alert users to the potential mental health harms of the websites and apps.
"A surgeon general’s warning label, which requires congressional action, would regularly remind parents and adolescents that social media has not been proved safe," he wrote.
💊Abortion Pill—SCOTUS Throws Out Challenges
The Supreme Court threw out its biggest abortion-related case since overturning Roe v. Wade two years ago, saying that anti-abortion forces who tried to restrict access to a commonly used abortion pill lacked legal standing.
Rejecting the highly-anticipated case preserves access to mifepristone but allows the court to skirt making a ruling on the merits of the case.
The Supreme Court held that the plaintiffs — a group of doctors who oppose abortion but don't take or prescribe mifepristone — couldn't show they were directly injured, as the Biden administration asserted during oral arguments.
But senate Republicans have defeated a bill that would have established a federal right to in-vitro fertilization, a piece of legislation that Democrats brought to the floor as part of an election-year effort to contrast their approach to reproductive rights with that of the party across the aisle.
🍎Apple Soars—Takes a Byte of AI
Apple is again the world’s richest company, beating Microsoft in valuation, shares closing at a new high a day after announcing its long-awaited artificial intelligence push, ‘Apple Intelligence’.
CEO Tim Cook emphasized the need for privacy and personalization, “beyond artificial intelligence,” into “personal intelligence.
Siri now is said to understand more and can perform numerous tasks on iPhones, iPads and Macs. Siri can also tap into ChatGPT.
Most processing will be done your device instead of on servers in the cloud. But the company said for running larger AI models Apple will keep it private by running its own servers with what it calls Private Cloud Compute.
Here are some of its capabilities:
Context-driven notifications: Apple Intelligence can recognize which notifications are important to your personal context.
Writing improvements: Apple Intelligence will introduce system-wide proofreading and style improvements across third-party and native apps.
Image generation: Apple Intelligence can create generative photos based on your photo library, similar to some other platforms. There are three styles: Sketch, Illustration, and Animation.
Cross-application tasking: Apple Intelligence can delve into your apps and execute tasks on your behalf. One of the examples Federighi gave was asking Apple Intelligence to pull up files sent by a contact in a certain time period.
Focus on personal context: Apple Intelligence can draw upon the full suite of your activity but also on what’s on your screen. For example, you can ask it whether a shifted meeting will cause you to be late to a personal commitment, Federighi said.

🇮🇱 Israel Rescues Hostages
Israel’s military rescued four hostages from central Nuseirat in Gaza on Saturday morning, in what it described as a complex daytime operation.
There are still eight Americans being held hostage by Hamas, five living and three dead.
The latest operation brings the total hostages rescued alive to seven since the start of the war following the Hamas-led attack on Oct. 7.
The newly freed hostages — Noa Argamani, 26; Almog Meir Jan, 22; Andrey Kozlov, 27; and Shlomi Ziv, 41 — were kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival on Oct. 7. All four are in good medical condition and have been transferred to a hospital in Israel for further examination, the Israeli authorities said in a statement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will not agree to a permanent cease-fire before the destruction of Hamas’s “military and governing capabilities,” a day after President Biden laid out a three-stage road map to a sustained cease-fire that the President said was backed by Israel.
The Israeli military took control over the Rafah border crossing and much of Rafah itself, in what it called a limited operation aimed at destroying Hamas targets it says were used to attack Israeli soldiers.

☕️Coffee Fights Aging
Drink up!
New research has unveiled the potential health benefits of trigonelline — a natural molecule found in coffee.
This discovery is pivotal in the quest to improve muscle health and functionality, especially as we age.
Sarcopenia is characterized by the gradual weakening of muscles due to cellular changes associated with aging. This leads to a significant decline in muscle mass, strength, and ultimately, a reduction in physical independence.
In pre-clinical models, coffee which contains supplementation with trigonelline enhanced mitochondrial activity, thus aiding in the preservation of muscle function during
