Mark Zuckerberg delivered a surprise apology to the families of victims of online child sex abuse in the middle of a heated Senate hearing on Capitol Hill.
In a stunning move, the billionaire boss of Meta stood up from his chair and turned to face the back of the room, where parents held up pictures of their children who they said had been harmed by social media.
“I’m sorry for everything you have all been through,” said Zuckerberg, who was grilled for hours by lawmakers over Meta’s failure to crack down on child predators and “sextortion” crimes on Facebook and Instagram.
“No one should go through the things that your families have suffered,” Zuckerberg added. “And this is why we invest so much and we are going to continue doing industry-wide efforts to make sure no one has to go through the things your families have had to suffer.”

🚗Tesla Shares Sink As Musk Pay Ruled Too High
Elon Musk’s $55 billion pay package at Tesla has been struck down by a Delaware judge after a shareholder challenged it as excessive, a ruling that would take a giant bite out of Musk’s wealth if it survives a likely appeal.
Tesla’s share price slid about 3% in after-hours trading following news of the decision in the lawsuit filed by shareholder Richard Tornett.
Delaware Chancery Court Judge Kathaleen McCormick wrote in her ruling that Musk’s pay package was inappropriately set by Tesla’s board.
"The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well," Elon Musk wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Initial results show promising neuron spike detection."
Musk followed by explaining how the technology works.
He said that the first Neuralink product is called Telepathy., and "Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking," he wrote.
"Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs.

💵Trump Threatens Haley Donors, Kochs Predict Biden Pres Win
Former President Trump on Wednesday railed against GOP primary opponent Nikki Haley and warned that anyone who contributes to her campaign would be “permanently barred from the MAGA camp.”
“When I ran for Office and won, I noticed that the losing Candidate’s ‘Donors’ would immediately come to me, and want to ‘help out.’ This is standard in Politics, but no longer with me,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform.
“Anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp. We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!” Trump continued, using the nickname “Birdbrain,” to refer to Haley.
Haley renewed her challenge to Trump to get on stage and debate her, after he has repeatedly declined to debate his primary rivals.
Haley, during a rally in South Carolina, pointed to Trump’s recent claim he would score higher on a mental competency test than Haley, who has called for such tests for anyone over the age of 75.
Haley has questioned Trump’s mental fitness, seizing on a flub at a rally in which Trump repeatedly called Nancy Pelosi by Haley’s name when attacking the former House speaker.
A newly released memo from the conservative Koch Brothers says they fully expect President Biden to defeat Donald Trump despite what the media says. This is a significant sign that Biden is winning and the media/polling narratives may be wrong.
President Biden picked up a key endorsement from the United Autoworkers Union.
All Hands On Deck
President Biden’s campaign is reportedly trying to organize a first-of-its-kind fundraiser bringing together the President with former Presidents Obama and Clinton.
Organizers hoping it would be headline-grabbing, and energizing for Democratic voters who so far have not shown enthusiasm for the party’s 2024 ticket, according to four people familiar with the planning.
The plan underscores the belief among Biden allies that the party needs an all-hands-on-deck approach to help him win a second term. It’s also just one in a growing list of ways that Democratic leaders, and the Biden campaign, are gearing up for a general election they view as having the highest of stakes.

721,677 job cuts last year, a 98% jump from 363,832 layoffs reported in 2022, a new report published by professional outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas has revealed.
Several high-profile tech companies, including Meta and Amazon, slashed jobs last year. Around 168,032 employees were laid off in 2023, which is a stunning 73% increase from the previous year, the report said. Experts now believe that this problem could worsen in 2024 as the labour market continues to soften in the face of high-interest rates and stubborn inflation.
"Labor costs are high," said Andy Challenger, senior vice president of Challenger, Gray & Christmas. "Employers are still extremely cautious and in cost-cutting mode heading into 2024, so the hiring process will likely slow for many job-seekers and cuts will continue in the first quarter," he added, as per Fox News.
Challenger went on to say that the "tech sector will continue to be impacted by the onset of AI, mergers and acquisitions, and realigning of resources and talent".

🚨Mideast War Expands: Houthi Attacks on US Ships
Another sign the Israel-Hamas war is widening.
The US launched more strikes on Yemen’s Houthis as the Iran-backed militant group continues to upend global shipping markets with Red Sea attacks.
US jets shot down an anti-ship cruise missile fired toward an American destroyer in the Red Sea from Houthi militant-controlled areas of Yemen, according to U.S. military.
These strikes on the terrorists will not prove to be a quick-fix to world-wide shipping problems, which are driving up consumer costs, as shippers have tripled the prices they charge to take cargo from Asia to Europe, according to ➡️Exiger CEO Brandon Daniels, a supply-chain expert and GisermanGroup client on Bloomberg:

🍀Fed Scientists Recommend Easing Marijuana Rules
Government scientists have concluded Marijuana is neither as risky nor as prone to abuse as other tightly controlled substances and has potential medical benefits, and therefore should be removed from the nation’s most restrictive category of drugs.

The records shed light for the first time on the thinking of federal health officials who are pondering a momentous change. The agencies involved have not publicly commented on their debates over what amounts to a reconsideration of marijuana at the federal level.
🎢Boeing Jets Grounded BlownOut Panel Found
Hundreds of flights a day cancelled as United Airlines has found loose bolts on door plugs of several Boeing 737 Max 9 planes during inspections.
It comes after a 63 pound, 4-foot-long panel that blew-off an Alaska Airlines plane in midair was found in a backyard outside Portland Oregon. It gives investigators a key clue as they try to piece together why a gaping hole opened midair in the airplane’s side.
Airlines ordered by the FAA to stop using some 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 planes until they are inspected, less than a day after an incident in which a chunk of the body of a Max 9 plane operated by Alaska Airlines was blown out in flight.
The plane with more than 170 passengers and six crew, returned safely to Portland, Ore., after experiencing an incident that flight attendants described as an “explosive” decompression. Photos and video that passengers posted on social media showed a gaping opening in the plane. Oxygen masks dangled down.

💣Shocking Allegations In Epstein Docs
A Jeffrey Epstein accuser once claimed former President Donald Trump allegedly had “sexual relations” with one of her unnamed friends at the late pedophile’s New York home “on regular occasions,” according to another trove of court documents unsealed Monday.
Sarah Ransome, in a string of emails in 2016, also claimed that she had copies of tapes Epstein had made of some of his high-profile friends — including Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and British business magnate Richard Branson — allegedly having sex with an unnamed woman.
She confided in me about her casual ‘friendship’ with Donald. Mr. Trump definitely seemed to have a thing for her and she told me how he kept going on about how he liked her ‘pert nipples,’” Ransome wrote about her friend in one email, made public when the latest batch of newly unsealed documents dropped.
“I also know she had sexual relations with Trump at Jeffery’s NY mansion on regular occasions,” she added.
Ransome walked back the salacious allegations in an Oct. 23, 2016 email with a columnist, writing, “I would like to retract everything I have said to you and walk away from this,” according to the filing.
She added that “only bad things” and “pain for my family” would come from going public.
Jeffrey Epstein’s “sex slave” Virginia Roberts Giuffre had sex with a “prince” in France, newly released documents reveal.
Giuffre — who has claimed that she was pimped out for sex with disgraced Prince Andrew — says she once had sex with another prince at the late sex offender’s direction, according to a 2016 deposition for a lawsuit.

💉Wegovy Reduces Heart Problems
The popular weight-loss drug Wegovy reduced the risk of serious heart problems by 20% in a large, international study that experts say could change the way doctors treat certain heart patients.
The research is the first to document that an obesity medication can not only pare pounds, but also safely prevent a heart attack, stroke or a heart-related death in people who already have heart disease — but not diabetes.
Zepbound, a new weight loss drug from Eli Lilly has been approved by the FDA, the latest entrant in the field which includes Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro.
The drug was shown in clinical trials to help people lose up to 52 pounds in 16 months. It will carry a list price of about $1,060 for a month's supply. Despite the steep price, some analysts have anticipated it will become the best-selling drug in history.
The cost may put the new drug out of reach for many people given that insurance companies are often reluctant to cover weight loss medications, and Medicare, by law, does not cover them.
In the United States, 4 in 10 adults have obesity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
